Frequently Asked Questions.
Who Do You Generally Work With?
I primarily work with adult individuals (20’s-50’s). I also work with young adolescents and sometimes couples.
People who find themselves saying:
“No matter what I do or how hard I try, I feel like it’s never good enough.”
“I don’t understand why I can do so well at work, but I feel like I’m a failure at home.”
“My life is relatively good, but why do always feel like I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop?”
“I feel like I go out of my way to be nice, so I don’t understand why (said person) treats me this way.”
“I feel like I have a lot of good qualities, so how come I can’t seem to meet someone special?”
“I’ve worked pretty hard to get where I’m at and I’m even proud of how far I’ve come. How come I’m not happy?”
“I’ve heard people usually feel more confident with age, so why is it that as I get older, I feel more and more insecure?”
Do You Have Any Specialties?
My specialties are working with people (clients) who have been struggling with an important relationship in their life (a partner, a parent or family member, a child, a friendship, colleague or boss. I’ve been able to be the most helpful with those who want more out of their experience of their relationships. I find that a common underlying issue people struggle with often stem from having been emotionally impacted by someone they love or care about. These loved ones generally have suffered from problems with alcohol or addiction (prescription or recreational drugs, food, gambling, shopping or work-a-holism). Another common impact is when loved ones may have been wounded themselves, either through trauma, untreated mental disorders (anxiety, depression, bi-polar or a personality disorder). Any one of these experiences, often results in the person (coming into therapy) to feel overwhelmed, discouraged, powerless and at a loss.
What’s Your Availability?
I work Monday through Friday (weekdays only), generally in the afternoons and evenings.
What Are Your Rates?
My fee is $275.00 for a 50 minute counseling session
As a private practitioner, I am able to accept payment in Venmo, Zelle or credit card.
I’m able to provide proper documentation if your insurance provider accepts services through out of network care.
Do You Take Insurance?
What I do offer are billing receipts for my therapy services. Since I am not a provider with any insurance companies, I create statements documenting your payment and all the information needed for you to submit to your insurance company. This would apply if you are set up under your insurance plan with a PPO, which generally means you are able to see an "Out of Network" therapist.
This is what I would be considered, as I’m not affiliated with any insurance companies. If you have an HMO, then in order to use your insurance coverage, you’d need to see a provider that’s on insurance company’s list. More detailed information is below. Many of my clients who have PPO’s, opt for the route of an “out-of-network” therapist, as it often allows for some reimbursement to you for your therapy expenses.
Do You Offer Virtual Sessions?
I currently am offering only virtual sessions. I use a protected video platform or phone for therapy appointments.
How Long Does Therapy Take?
This is a very common question, with an unfortunately uncertain answer. A person’s timeline is completely unique to the individual, as well as the nature of their presenting issue. I have found that 3-6 months has been a minimum. Many people continue longer term with a frequency of every week, bi-weekly, monthly or check-in’s and follow ups based on individual needs at the time.
How Do I Know If We Are A Fit?
I am a big advocate for finding the right match. There are thousands of therapists, all with such different skills approached and personalities. I find a “right match” is a combination of understanding what you’re looking for with considering gender, age, years of experience, personal referral, the “feel” you get by hearing the therapist’s voice, seeing their image online, and/or reading their bio and information on their website. Things clients have said to me about my style are:
“I love how you catch subtle nuances in my body language, facial expressions or tone in my voice.”
“I feel so safe sharing things I’m not able to tell anyone else.”
