Day #9 Self Care Challenge

As I settle in to Day #9 of our Shelter In Place, I take stalk of the rising number of people infected, and the ones I hear that don’t make it, be it in my county, my state, my country or my planet. As I walk through my downtown (safely distanced from others), I can’t help but to feel for all the people not working, the shops that have to keep their doors closed (for now), the money people aren’t making, the bills people may not be able to pay this month, and the places we don’t get to go. I’ve already heard of people I know who no longer have a job to come back to. I hear from moms, so many parents who struggle with now trying to learn how to home school, let alone figure out that darn Zoom app!

It could all easily plummet me into a pit of pain compassion... which is why I share the things I do. I recognize that the news out there is scary and concerning. And I’m also aware spring time comes after winter... even though this (literal) spring may be being (figuratively) overshadowed. I hear how people have been cooking exercising more, organizing cupboards and drawers they’d been meaning to for months... and families who are playing more games and unhappy children who are staring to laugh again.

My friend Jan P. shared this with me, and it’s left in me an imprint of perspective and possibly.
